UPSCALE MARKET OPENING DOWNTOWN ON FIRST FLOOR OF THE STANDARD
Store to feature gourmet provisions, craft beers, café dining and more at corner of Market and Texas streets
SHREVEPORT, La.—When renovations are completed on The Standard’s luxury lofts and retail space next year, Shreveport will have its first upscale market located downtown.
Street Corner Market at The Standard will offer gourmet provisions, a rotating selection of craft beers, and freshly-prepared sandwiches and salads among other items. Building owners ViaNova Development plan to offer Shreveport brands at The Standard, following the model of their Chattanooga market at The Clemons, which carries locally-roasted coffee, regional produce, and breads and pastries from nearby bakers.
“This building was the first skyscraper in Shreveport, and it’s only fitting that it should house downtown’s first gourmet market,” said Neil Kapadia, principal at ViaNova Development. “This is just one way The Standard is setting the standard for downtown Shreveport once again.”
Kapadia said ViaNova will use biometric fingerprint locks to provide residents of The Standard with 24-hour access to the market so they can purchase essentials anytime they need them, even when the market is closed to the public.
The Standard will feature 86 luxury residential lofts on the upper floors along with amenities including a rooftop dog park and adjacent covered parking. In addition to opening Street Corner Market, Kapadia said ViaNova is also pursuing a new bank tenant for the ground floor of The Standard that will make use of Commercial National Bank’s massive vaults, which have remained intact since the building originally opened in 1911.
